1985 journal, age 19, "Skriekback’s Concert was very, very GREAT !"
ENG 241 journal entry, Macomb Community College, Michigan, October 1985:
This evening we saw a new wave band from England at the popular new wave swingin' night club Saint Andrew's [Hall] (used the be called the Grandy Ballroom) in Detroit. The band's name is Skriekback - dig that name ! The live performance was SKRIEKLINGLY SUPER ! The sound was good and the place was sardine-packed. The only 'shriek' we encountered was the fact that for $10.00 we only heard 6 songs (maybe 5) and one encore song after coming back out. [I] had my trusty telephoto lens to guide me on top of [the] stage - the magnification is extremely powerful, so I was able to stand behind the crowd and (on top of a chair) take pictures of the band whose head filled my frame.
